DIY Playing Card Case Display

So this is the DIY Playing Care Case that I made. It was kind of pricy, but it was pretty.

1) I bought a front loaded Studio Décor Shadowbox Brown, from Michaels 59.99

2) 1/4″ x 1/2″ x 48″ x 2 pieces, hardwood trim (Home Depot $1.67 each), you will need enough to have two pieces per row.

3) I had #4 x 3/4” x 9 pieces of wood screws, and 8 small nails 1/2” deep brown spray paint to match the exterior

Tools Used

  • Cordless drill w/small drill bit
  • Hacksaw
  • Screwdriver
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Sanding paper

So I measured out 6 pieces of wood that were just a little bit smaller than the inside space.

I used a hand hacksaw to cut all 6 pieces.

I then put the two pieces together like the above picture and using the nails, put the pieces together. The reason I did this was because the backing I was using had too much poofiness in it. So the cards would not rest against the back, so I made this into a groove so that it would rest well inside.

Took out some spray paint and sprayed it down. Laying down a light layer of spray paint every 5-10 minutes, until I had coated everything.

Then I measured evenly 3 rows, and drilled holes in from the back. Then I drilled the exact same location holes on the wood pieces. Making sure that the groove was on the inside (Where the card would be put into)

Here is a close up as you can see I painted over the nail, and how the groove is attached to the back.

Then I had some picture frame holders, and mounted this pretty thing. I’m not exactly sure what sherri wanted, But she somehow wanted another one for her jewelry. Smile

So I hope this helps you make a card display case. I just made sure I found ones that are front loaded openings. So I think this ended up costing around 70 dollars, and the way I mounted it, I can hold 4 cards per row, so a total of 12 cards.
