Funemployment 2015: Day 3

So one of the nice things about funemployment is that I have no stress in my life. All my work is done, and I can enjoy everything. Since my dad has not needed to do chemo, he has been getting better. So we went to visit my grandparents while my dad is strong enough.

So we go to Oakland Chinatown to a doctor’s office. It is kind of interesting seeing how places like chinatown have really small areas. When I push my grandfather in with a wheel chair, it can only really fit 3 other people with him in there.

I can push a wheelchair pretty fast, it is kind of like Fast and the Furious pushing him through chinatown without hitting other people. Weaving in and out, I wonder if my grandpa is scared because I move pretty quickly over the sidewalks. So there are some bumps along the way.

My Grandma is pretty funny when I take pictures. I guess she knows what a selfie is because she was laughing when I was taking this with her.

What is interesting is my Grandma was telling me how anxious and nervous she gets about my dad’s health. She doesn’t know he has cancer, but can tell he has been losing weight. So I think he knows he has been sick, but doesn’t know what it is. However, we have been telling her that my dad is gaining weight. However, during all this time she has been really nervous still.

Since my sister is going back on saturday, she came along too. We joked to my cousin Thomas that he is paying for the lunch, Smile .

Oakland recently passed a higher minimum wage laws. So because of that, one of my favorite dim sum places “legendary palace” had to close. Now there is really only one left, Peony Restaurant, which we rarely go too because the price was much higher than legendary palace for the same quality food.

We got a lot of dimsum … one of my favorite things to eat. My actual favorite food is the deep fried beef dumpling. Ate so much that day. I think during my funemployment all I will be doing is eating.

Then we ended it with pearl milk tea and bakery. IMAG3456

The only downer of the day was a policewoman almost fined us for using a disabled parking card illegally. What had happened was that my dad had walked back to the car and was putting something inside of it. Without telling the rest of us, so we were all just standing around 4 blocks away waiting for him. The policewoman saw him, and he didn’t have the paperwork so she made us bring my grandparents over to verify that we actually could use it.

So she gave us a speech saying that we can’t actually park the car there if the people that are disabled are not within visual range. We had actually parked there and gotten out of the car at that spot. However, my dad did not explain it clearly. So the policelady did not understand.

The moral of the story is that if you have a disabled placard on your car, do not go near the car unless the disabled person is close to you. Or else it will cost $500.
