One of the things that has been leaking at my parents house is the fridge. This happened because my parents bought a refrigerator 4 months ago, it was too loud … So they swapped out my fridge with their fridge.
It was an easy move, but I think they didn’t protect the bottem well. So they cracked my plastic drain pan at the bottom.
If you look at the picture above, on the left side is the pan that the condensed water drips into. Then there are two bumps and everything to the right is the overflow. For my dad’s fridge the crack was right at the first bump. Because of that it would leak on that side of the fridge everyday.
First thing I had to do was take out all the food. I took a picture so I could remember quickly how to put everything back in.
Next I tilted the fridge slightly sideways. The drain pan was on the right side, and I didnt have anything to lift the fridge so I tilted it. Leaned it against the countertop.
I also went to the back to unscrew the cardboard backing and pulled out the underpiece under the fridge door.
Since I was not that smart when taking out the plastic drain, I was trying to pull it out. But of you look at the metal there is a little lip that goes up. This lip makes it so you can’t pull the tray in or out. So when I was taking out the cracked drain pan, I just broke it in half, and pulled one side out on the left, and pulled the part on the right side of the lip out on the right side.
That was all fine, until I had to put in the new drain. It was then I realized that the metal plate had 2 Allen wrench screws that I could loosen. I loosened them enough and was able to pull it away from the fridge far enough to slide the drain pan into the fridge.
Then I cleaned everything up and it was good as new. The only bad thing is that the drain pan is pretty expensive, around 50 dollars.
So I feel super accomplished today and enjoying another funemployment day .
