Planks with my Old Coworkers

IMAG2983

What I do enjoy about working is all the co-workers I meet. I met a lot of great people, and have made great friendships. One of the things I did today was talk to my old co-workers that had left my previous company (or were going to). Met them up after the company christmas party at Plank’s in Oakland. That is a pretty nice place with a lot of activities there, kind of like dave and busters, with bocce ball and a little less games, and a bowling alley.

It is kind of weird talking to all my co-workers, because I can see a lot of them got screwed over a lot more than me. I don’t think I was really messed up too much because I started out at another company. However, my co-workers that were the youngest got used the most. The latest one to leave was telling me about how the company tried to keep him there, but didn’t even try to offer him more money when he said he got a better offer.

So what have I learned., engineers get screwed over in a company where the project manager runs the show. If the project managers make all the money, they get to call all the shots, and the engineers are usually on the short end of the stick.

What else did I learn? That I have pretty bad gut feelings about people, and if I can sense it, most likely there is a high chance it is because it is blatantly happening.

Then it was a giant fest of talking trash about the old boss, and some of the people, because there are some really interesting co-workers there that don’t really do anything.

Then I tried to make it to church on time, but I had to walk from 12th street to lake merrit bart station because they closed the 12th street due to the protests. Too bad I didn’t see any protesters.
