For this saturday, I took a day away from thinking about my dad, and just focus it on Sherri and my friends. So we had a double date today. I drove, and our double date partners for that day were
The first place we went to was Trinitas, which was located in a cave. The hard part about this place was finding it. It is located behind a resort, so you might not think there is winery there.
We got there pretty early, so there was only one other group there. That made it more interesting for us, because we had one sommelier to ourselves. She was a really fun person, and gave us all these extra fun pours. We did the chocolate and wine pairing. The chocolate they had were locally made from Koller Chocolate. They tasted amazing.
A Happy Sherri
It was interesting going on a double date with A Lau and Cat. Mostly because they don’t really talk too much. So I think the sommelier liked me the most, because I was talking to her a lot. So we were making a lot of jokes and just having fun. Sherri, Cat, and ALau enoyed it too.
For lunch, we went a mile north to the “Grape Crusher”. We had a picnic there in Napa. I went around trying to figure out what to make for the picnic, and I ended up making these “Petite French Picnic Sandwiches”.
They turned out amazing, it was just a dinner roll looking bread, with spinich leaves, roast beef, tomatoes, and “garlic and herb cheese”. Then we had grapes and pistacios, and I brought a bottle of sparking apple cider.
From where we sat, we could see the back of the hotel, and could also glance out and see the whole napa valley. I think Sherri and Cat really liked the location.
Our next location after that was Leap Frog Winery, which was suppose to have a great garden.
They had a great looking farmhouse and house.
Then they served us some awesome cheese with their wine.
And there was their garden. Their winery is all organic and dry raised grapes… so I think it meant that they don’t really water all the plants at their base. So the plants have to grow out their roots to find the water source, which makes their grapes taste different.
Then we went to eat some of our favorite ice cream from Three Twins, oh man, Alan got me hooked on this place.
Then we went to Bounty Hunters for dinner, it was a pretty fancy looking wine bar. I just wanted to go there to eat their “Beer Can Chicken” because it was awesome the last time I went there. So we ate pretty full. I think Andrew and I could eat a little more, but we were satisfied.
Then we sat at the Napa Waterfront.
Overall, I would say it was a really awesome double date. The schedule came out working perfectly. Even though I had to change the Frog Leap schedule a little. I did also over book then, so had to call them to choose the right time.
When I plan things, I try to make it less stressful, so I build in a lot of buffer time. So for the first winery, I gave us around 1.5 hours, and then around 40 minutes to eat our lunch. Which came out nice, and then the Leap Frog Winery we just sat there for around 2 hours. Then dinner was around 7:00pm after waiting around for a table.
The funny part was when we got past 8pm, I didn’t have anything left on my schedule. I actually have no idea what the nighlife in napa was .
From talking to A Lau and Cat, they enjoyed it so much that, they want to have another double date with us. My favorite thing is how Sherri liked all the wineries I picked, she was a little suspect about the places because I didn’t really know their names. I kept of calling Frog leap, leap frog, and trinitas .. “trinity”. Also, since I told her I rarely ever go wine tasting, and chose these random wineries. Now she knows I have really good ability to figure out what is good or not. Like how my friend once said I should be a “party planner” after they came to my birthday party …..
